The Position:
Dance/NYC seeks an Research and Advocacy Manager who will work with the Co-Executive Director, Candace Thompson-Zachery to support in the execution of the organization’s research and advocacy related activities including leadership training, networking and convening, technology and visibility, and regranting.
The compensation package includes a package includes a salary of $63,000 and competitive benefits:

The Location:
Dance/NYC is operating as a hybrid of remote and in-person work. Because Dance/NYC serves the five boroughs of New York City and surrounding counties of Bergen, Hudson in New Jersey State, and Rockland, Westchester, Nassau and Suffolk counties in New York State; and the City of Yonkers, Dance/NYC is only recruiting cultural workers who are living in this geographic area and able to commute to Dance/NYC’s offices and events regularly.
Dance/NYC’s offices are located on the Garden Floor (ground floor) of the Mertz Gilmore Foundation, 218 East 18th Street, New York, NY 10003 in Gramercy. Access to the Garden Floor entrance includes a two-step descent. A lift to the entrance and an accessible bathroom is available onsite. Elevators are not available in the building.
Gramercy is a quiet, family neighborhood with brownstones on tree-lined streets. It has a variety of historic restaurants, shops, and neighborhood parks. This neighborhood is also minutes away from Union Square Park.

STRATEGIC PLANNING CONSULTANT
Dance/NYC invites expressions of interest from planning consultants and facilitators to lead the organization through its next strategic planning process over an expected 8-month period in 2024.

Our Ideal Consultant:
Dance/NYC intends to work with a planning consultant who is a collaborator, systems changer, community organizer, and strategist who aligns with and works within a value system similar to ours. Our ideal consultant for this strategic planning process will also have:
- Experience in and commitment to conducting planning work through a social justice, equity, inclusivity, and accessibility lens;
- Significant experience providing strategic and business planning services in New York City’s arts and cultural sector;
- Knowledge and understanding of program design and delivery in the arts;
- Experience with nonprofit operating and financial structures and funding landscape;
- Working knowledge of service and intermediary organizations as well as the New York City dance ecology and the trends and issues facing it, including the ongoing impacts of pandemic and racial reckoning; and
- Excellent project management, facilitation, outreach, and consensus-building skills.
Note that consultants with complementary skills and qualifications may team up to submit a joint proposal in response to the RFEI.
